DIOS delineates large-scale gold-silver-copper system on its K2 project, Lower Eastmain, and increases land position

 

DIOS is very pleased to report significant results from new K2 project seven-day exploration program, Lower Eastmain James Bay area, Quebec. Outcropping rock sampling returned 64 gold assays between 8.08 and 0.1 g/t gold, including 12 samples greater than 1 g/t gold (8.08, 3.64, 2.52, 2.44, 2.28, 2.12, 1.74, 1.71, 1.65, 1.46, 1.35, 1.03 g/t gold) and 20 samples over 0.50 g/t gold. Gold is associated with significant silver values up to 123 g/t Ag (including 36 samples over 10 g/t silver & 8 samples over 50 g/t silver ) and copper values up to 6,42% (65 samples over 0.1% Cu and 18 samples over 1% Cu).

 

Best assays were obtained from felsic volcanics overlying Kali Quartz-Diorite Porphyry. A chalcopyrite-rich stringer/stockwork zone extending over 75 m and about 5-10 m wide yielded up to 8.08 g/t gold, 96.7 g/t silver, 2.43% copper & 0.17% zinc. A total of 13 rock samples from «Attila Zone» returned average grades of 1.07 g/t gold, 38.8 g/t silver & 1.25% Cu. Some 100 m north, a several meter sub-parallel horizon extending over 50 m with narrow quartz-carbonate-pyrite veins returned five samples over 1 g/t gold (up to 3.64 g/t gold & 26.7 g/t silver).

Gold-Silver-Copper occurrences hosted in felsic volcanics and tuffs are spatially associated with NW Kali fault and margins of a regional distinct 4 x1 km magnetic high anomaly along Kali Quartz-Diorite Porphyry contact. Mineralization consists in disseminated and stringer sulphides (pyrite-chalcopyrite, minor sphalerite-pyrrhotite) associated with strong silica-chlorite-carbonate stockwork alteration zone. Alteration Zone is centred on Kali fault, overlapping southern margin of magnetic high anomaly. It was traced over a 500 m width and a 2 km lateral extent within felsic volcanic sequence. Sericitization-silicification-pyritization (2-5%) of a specific several meter volcanic unit was also observed.

 

DIOS’ research work outlined a 10 km long felsic sequence injected by synvolcanic Kali Quartz-Diorite porphyry, favourable for gold-silver-copper mineralized system. Several types of gold-bearing mineralization were observed: disseminated and stringer sulphide (pyrite-chalcopyrite) zones hosted in felsic volcanics sub-parallel to stratigraphy; shear zones; fracture-filling and narrow (cm-dm) quartz-carbonate-sulphide veins.

 

DIOS is looking forward to follow-up exploration work on K2 in the Lower Eastmain near Opinaca Sub-province.  Eleonore Gold Mine is in the Lower Eastmain near the Opinaca sub-province. Due to positive results so far, DIOS extended K2 over a 12km-strike of favourable volcanics in contact with Kali pluton (65 claims, 35 sq. km). New claims cover an EW shear coincidental with weak electromagnetic (input) anomalies over a 2 km-strike. Ground geophysical Induced-Polarization surveys are considered to outline large-scale targets at depth.

 

A total of 300 samples including 28 blanks were collected and analyzed at Val Dor ALS-Globals laboratory for gold (AU-AA23) and others elements (ME-ICP41).

Dios acquires new Clarkie gold project in Opinaca area

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC, CANADADIOS EXPLORATION acquires the new gold CLARKIE property with strong gold potential north of Eastmain Clearwater gold deposit and southeast of Eleonore Goldcorp gold mine and Cheechoo recent gold discovery in metasediments.   A significant gold-bearing glacial train indicates an up-ice source area hosting folded Clarkie sediments, interpreted as equivalent (same age sediments) to those hosting Eleonore gold mine.

Other favourable features such as diorite intrusions, porous sediments, fold closures and northwest structures are good physical traps for gold noted on newly map-staked claims (70 square km) close to strategic regional Opinaca-LaGrande contact.

DIOS outlined this gold-in-till train (16 x 4 km) including 14 samples over 100 ppb gold and five samples over 600 ppb gold (from heavy mineral concentrates). DIOS’ team is looking forward to explore these high gold potential sediments this summer.

 

Recent DIOS’ Heberto Gold discovery came from searching the source of such a gold glacial sand dispersal train.  The goldbearing Bohier tonalite along highway 167 was also discovered searching the source of yet another gold train delineated by Dios’ proprietary work data.  This press release was prepared by Harold Desbiens, M.Sc. Dios hits 3.65 g/t gold over 13 meters within a 60 m true thickness grading 1.21 g/t gold in Heberto tonalite

MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC, CANADA –Management of DIOS EXPLORATION is very pleased to report first results received from 2016 recent drilling on wholly-owned HEBERTOHole 19 cut 3.65 grams gold per tonne over 13 m (71 m-84 m)in a 64 m true thickness interval grading 1.15 g/t gold from 68 to 132 m on HEBERTO.

Recent 2016 drilling targeted vicinities of HEBERTO gold showing and checked the N160 degrees goldbearing corridor over a 700 meter strike length.  That goldbearing structure consists of several meters thick potassic altered shear zones with traces-4% pyrite (traces magnetite) in a large granodiorite/tonalite pluton.  DIOS is looking for a significant worldclass oxidized IRG gold deposit.  Enriched gold content in association with pyrite and magnetite confirm that model deposit.

This is promising because of pyrite and magnetite associated with gold on HEBERTO.  The first gold zone in hole 19 (from 71m to 84m) has 3-5% pyrite-magnetite (hematite-quartz-biotite) stringers/veinlets and the second one from 92-128 m has potassic shears with 1-3% disseminated pyrite (magnetite).  Gold zones can be followed in strike and dip.  Hole 19 is located 50 m south of holes 2015-01 (2.13 g/t gold/22.9 m), 2015-09 (2 g/t gold/22 m) and 2015-10 (1.63 g/t gold/18.45 m). Hole 19 is also located 50 m north of hole 2015-06 (1.94 g/t gold/7.75 m) and 112 m west of hole 2015-01.

DIOS 2016 Heberto 1532 meter eight drill hole program tested 8 targets. Further assays and re-assays are pending and will be released in the coming weeks for other holes.  HEBERTO major km scale gold system is located within a 5 X 8 km highly anomalous gold-in-outcrops area, 50 km south of Goldcorp’s Eleonore world class gold mine and 20 km west of Clearwater gold deposit, James Bay Eeyou Istchee, Quebec.

Samples were bagged and sent to ALS-Global laboratory in Val D’Or, Quebec: 616 samples (559.5 m of core) were sent for gold assays (Au-AA23) with 52 inserted blanks (certified barren quartz) for quality control.  Technical data was reviewed by Harold Desbiens, M.Sc. Geo 43-101 QP.

 

33CARATS-South gold project

A gold interest zone of a few sq. kilometers of homogeneous grayish granite (tonalite) with some sixty disseminated copper sulfide bearing samples.

 A clear gold-silver-copper-bismuth association typical of gold porphyry deposits. The style of mineralization (disseminated, not vein-hosted) and metal association suggest potential for a low-grade bulk tonnage porphyry gold deposit.

Five main gold anomalies (including 30 samples exceeding the 99.8 percentile gold in humus) were outlined over a non magnetic 4.5 x 2 km tonalitic phase. The gold anomalies appears N-S to NNE oriented and extend from 300 to 1 500 meters. They are also located adjacent (and up-ice) of goldbearing metric floats grading up to 7.76 g/t Au and outcrops grading up to 4.93 g/t Au.

Sub-parallel to the gold anomalies, two 3 km-long copper humus anomalies are coincidental with the magnetic/non-magnetic tonalite contact and the non-magnetic tonalite/magnetic granodiorite contact. Assays from previous rock-sampling confirmed a good gold-copper correlation.  These gold soil anomalies are located within one to two kilometres of the new #167  road.

Gold project AU33 WEST: surface work results

Dios Exploration and its  partner Osisko proceeded this fall with surface work on the AU33 West gold project (see October 24, 2012 post).

Dios Exploration recently reported good news after first assay results.

 Ten trenches were dug up to test soil geochemical targets or to extend known gold mineralized occurrences.

The best results come from the Héberto occurrence, in a mylonityzed tonalite, a granite type. The results returned grades as follows :

  • 5.0 grams per ton in gold over  5.25 m
  • 1.12 grams per ton in gold over  4.5 m

It is important to note that analysis within the tonalite was realized withinan homogeneous rock and not in veins (eg. Quartz). This could suggest interesting gold mineralization tonnage.

Other anomalous results from 0.5 to 1.1 g/t in gold on brackets of 0.75 to 2.25 m were as well obtained on other trenches.

These trenches allowed a good exposure of the mineralized occurrences and a better understanding of the vectors in place controlling the mineralization.

 Osisko

Remember that Osisko is a major partner who can acquire 51% of the AU33 WEST property. This partner has to incur  5,000,000 $ in exploration and  700,000 $as payments over 5 years.

The work previously mentioned is part of this partnership and is funded 100% by Osisko

Later on, if Osisko desires, an additonnal participation of 9 % is possible with further work of 9,000,000 $ over  5 years. Another 10 % is as well available with the financing of a feasibility study.

Osisko is a worldwide mining corporation based in Montreal for aquisition, exploration, developpement, and exploitation of auriferous properties.

AU 33 WEST Gold Project: Surface Trenching Work with Backhoe

Dios Exploration announced on September 24th, that two backhoes were moved this Fall on AU 33 WEST Gold Project.

This is major work for this project.

The trenching work is taking place this fall. Detailed rock sampling was undertaken and rocks to be assayed. The results will soon be published…

Why all this agitation? Because Dios Exploration :

  1. Thinks of AU33 West in James Bay as its project with the best mining potential
  2. Joint ventured with a major company, Osisko, to fund total expenses over a 5 year period. The partnership is renewable for another 5 year period afterwards.
  3. Considers that all main factors are in place to discover an economical mining deposit easily exploitable: surface exploitation and road infrastructures in proximity, the Eastmain 1 Hydro Power Complex road.

Please note that this geological model bears a lot of similarities with that of the Malartic mine , operated by Osisko, with a gold grade of 1 g/t.

Geographically, the project is located a few hundred kilometers north north-east of Matagami. Geologically, it is located in the Opinaca Eastmain emerging gold camp , some 60 km away from the world class Eleonore  gold deposit developed by Goldcorp.

Excellent news on 33 CARATS project

Recent exploration in a part of this project highlighted a gold and copper zone.

Works allowed targeting of a 2-3 km by 8 km sector of a tonalite (grey granite) phase with good gold potential.

The geological model applied is a porphyry-type, characterized by a gold-silver-copper-bismuth association.

It is the model wanted

The interesting minerals are gold and copper. The rock basement is a mildly mineralized tonalite.

This nonetheless offers excellent potential for a high tonnage gold mine, similar to the Malartic gold mine.

This mine, which has been exploited for many years, extracts rocks with average grade of 1 g/t.

On the 33 CARATS project, Dios  discovered on surface the following:

  • Erratic glacial boulders with grades up to 7.76 g/t gold
  • In place rock outcrops assaying up to 4.93 g/t gold

 Of the 60 analyzed samples containing disseminated copper sulfides, 26 had gold grades superior to 0.463 g/t.

The 33 CARATS project is wholly owned by Dios. At the moment, this project is one with the best mining potential. It is very promising and the future 167 road will cross through these claims.

What’s next?

To properly outline the more highly mineralized zone, 1 200 organic earth (humus) samples were already collected (soil-geochemistry).

Soils feed on proximal metals. Therefore it is possible to extrapolate analytical results from the rock basement.

If high concentrations are recurring, it could possibly outline excellent drilling targets.

According to precise planification to determine, these drillings could be done in 2013.
